A Quick look into Linux🐧

Exploring the concept, advantages, need to learn Linux & many more

Hey all👋,

This is my first blog post on Hashnode. In this blog, I will be putting some light on Linux, its uses, advantages and many more. Hope this blog will help you to know the precise information in less time🕒

Before diving into the technical part of Linux, lets have a quick look on the history

  • Linus Torvalds is the great brain behind the whole concept of Linux
  • It was founded in the year 1991 & this was result of his personal project

Now, lets explore the technicalities of Linux

What exactly is Linux?🤔

Most of the people get misunderstood that Linux is an OS, but actually its a kernel & kernel is part of OS.

What is kernel now?

In simple words, kernel can be defined as computer program which makes hardware language understand to OS & vice versa.

Why to learn Linux?

So before learning any technology, its better to know the reason to learn it, its scope, how can it prove to be useful & factors in which it will bring the quality in our work & life as well⭐

We all know that the tech world is growing at a rapid pace and all the things are shifting to cloud technologies & almost 90% of cloud workloads runs on Linux. I guess this statement alone describes the future of Linux. Besides, most of the well known government authorities & companies prefer Linux for their advanced softwares.

Linux is very very simple to learn and mostly the commands are operated in CLI(command line interface).

💡 Some advantages of Linux

  • 📖 Open source
  • 🔒 Secure
  • 🆓 Free to use
  • 📈 High performance
  • 👬 Large communities available
  • 📜 Well documented

Linux Distributions

There are various distributions or we can say modified versions of Linux in the market. Each distribution may target to specific use case or applications.

Some of the most famous Linux distros are listed below:

  • Ubuntu
